Growing vegetables can be hard work, but why go to the effort of preparing the soil, sowing seeds, caring for the plants and harvesting them?
Supermarkets happily churn out a whole range of vegetables from around the world at rock bottom prices but growing your own veg has a whole raft of benefits - from flavour to fun!

Flavour
No matter what presrvatives are used, or super turbo fast freezing might be carried out nothing can match the flavour of picking fruit or vegetable and putting it straight in your mouth. As soon as something is picked changes begin to occur, in some vegetables the sugars turn to starch which of cource has an effect on flavour.
Variety
In the UK there are 300 different types of potato alone. Supermarkets will have you believe that a range of 5 is choice, but growing your own opens up a whole new definition to the word "variety". Not being driven by profitability allows you the opportunity to try a spud that tastes better, but may not deliver the yields the supermarket chains require.
Money
In the supermarket organic vegetables have a premium price. As a grower, not using pesticides is money saved. You may see some of your crop lost to slugs, but a packet of seeds can go a long way - if you've the space, producing a quantitiy high enough it becomes efficient.
Seasonality
Our palettes have become dulled to seasonality, with global suppliers anything is in season all year round! When growing your own fruit and vegetables it is something that is taken much greater notice of - planning what will grow and when it will be available.
Fun
Getting your hands dirty can be great fun! Watching the transformation from seed to the end result is a joy that everyone ought to get a chance to do!
Satisfaction
The satisfaction of sitting down to a meal with food you've grown from seed is awesome!
